Food as Fuel: A Diet to Nourish Your Body Not Punish It

When people first start out on a weight loss journey or fitness regime they can get easily turned off by the idea of a diet. For many, food is connected with comfort and happiness. Therefore, it is easy to believe that a diet will make you uncomfortable and unhappy. But this is not at all the case. The right diet for your body is about giving it the fuel that it needs. Your body does amazing things just in a regular day, and then when you kick things up a notch with a training program you are asking it to be just that little bit more amazing. And your body can handle that no problem, but you should nourish it...

Paul’s The Final Blog – 2016 McDonald’s Townsville Running Festival

Firstly I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters that have donated to Ronald McDonald House NQ during the 2016 McDonalds Townsville Running Festival. Without the support of our local community, organisation such as this would not be able to function. When the final tally comes in, Bod Pod Townsville will have raised enough funds to provide six weeks accommodation for a family at RMH NQ. So again, thank you to all. The Marathon wrap up. So after running 42.2k yesterday, I wasn’t feeling much like sitting down a typing out my final blog last night. Bod Pod 8 week health challenge

Training Update 31 Jul 16

What a week this last week has been. I was planning on slowing down with my training in the two weeks leading up to race day, but having a week at home (with what I found out to be Influenza Type A) and no training at all, wasn’t how I planned it. Last Sunday I did my final 20k training run, felt a bit chesty to start with but didn’t think anything of it. I kept to my 6 min/km splits as planned, but seemed a little harder than usual. I started to feel a bit sore (all over muscle ache) during the day (again didn’t think too much of it, I just ran 20k) but by nightfall, the cold...

Training Update 17 Jul 16

Three weeks out and this marathon is starting to become very, very real. This being my first marathon, I still have loads of questions bouncing around in my head; have I done enough training, have my runs been long enough for the 42.2k, should I be doing more strength training, am I eating right, how am I going to find my water bottle amongst all the others at the drink stop tables and it goes on. Only time will tell, all I can say is that I’m prepared as best as I can be and so long as I can run across the finish line with a smile on my face I’ll be happy. One thing I didn’t realize at...
