What a week this last week has been. I was planning on slowing down with my training in the two weeks leading up to race day, but having a week at home (with what I found out to be Influenza Type A) and no training at all, wasn’t how I planned it. Last Sunday I did my final 20k training run, felt a bit chesty to start with but didn’t think anything of it. I kept to my 6 min/km splits as planned, but seemed a little harder than usual. I started to feel a bit sore (all over muscle ache) during the day (again didn’t think too much of it, I just ran 20k) but by nightfall, the cold shivers started and fever set in. I had Monday off work, went to the doctor Tuesday and then got the biggest shock when she gave me the rest of the week off. Anyway a week out now from race day and I just hope I can shake this thing so I can put in a half decent effort.
